Marriage License in South Carolina

To be married in South Carolina, you must obtain a South Carolina Marriage License.  There is a 24 hour waiting period after the after it has been entered into the Court’s computerized marriage license system on the business day following the Court’s receipt of the Application.   There are no blood tests required.  Both applicants ( bride & groom) have to appear in the Probate Office when you pick up your license.  If you live in South Carolina, you can apply at your locate Probate Office.  For Horry County,  Myrtle Beach area, a printable form is online at www.horrycounty.org.  Instructions are on this site, as well.  You can mail your application along with the copies of the proper documents for your age group.   If mailing your application, wait 2 weeks to call to make sure everything is in order.  The mailing address is Horry County Probate Court, PO Box 288, Conway, South Carolina 29528. It is located in the Horry County Government and Justice Center at 1301 2nd. Ave., Conway, SC.

The main office is in Conway, SC and the main number is 843-915-5370. There are 2 Satellite offices.  The North end is  in Little River (843-915-5372) and South end is in Surfside Beach  (843-915-5371) areas for your convenience.   

They are not open on weekends. They are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. They are closed daily from 12:30 -1:30 PM or as business levels permit.  Do not wait until 4-5 PM on Friday to appear at the Probate Office.  More than likely, you will not be the only couple there.
